After reading this post I was inspired to make a DIY aer filter. I first came across these DIY filters on Pinterest and then I thought I could do them myself. I’ve been using them since October and they are a nice change from the plastic ones we normally put in our cars. The filter is easy to make, and you can easily clean it with a brush to make sure it is working properly.

I don’t think I need to be clear, the dirt and grit get into the tires because dirt just happens to be a part of the road. You either take care of that or don’t.
I have found that the best cleaning agent to use on tires is a small plastic container with a hole in the lid. This is actually very common, but I have to admit I have never tried it.
What I do is I soak the tires for a few hours (which is almost never necessary) then I put them in the cleaner and let it sit for a few hours. After that the tires will be ready to go.
And we get a little more into the physics of it as well. The clean dirt gets pushed down into the tire and the air pressure in the tire increases. If I have a dirty tire I will try to clean it as soon as possible, otherwise it just sits around. So the cleaning process is like a vacuum cleaner, it sucks the dirt up into the tire and pushes it down into the dirt.
The cleaner also has an air pump so if the tire is dirty and has air in it, it makes a little sound to warn cars nearby that air is getting in to the tire. If the air is too much and the tire is dry, it will not make the sound.
