I always ask myself if I want to be in a situation that I don’t like, but I can’t remember why I decided to make that decision in the first place. If I have a specific reason to feel the way I’ve felt for a long time, it’s hard to change that.
When I bought my first filter, I thought getting a new one was going to solve my problem, but it didn’t. I had tried every water filter on the market. I decided to give the one I had had a few problems so I went to the local Walgreens.
I got a great deal on the filter that was the second best deal I ever saw. I had it installed in about 10 minutes (when I got back to the room my husband was staying at). The first few days I had no issues with it, but after a couple weeks the water kept turning black and my kids had to be called. After a second filter I decided it was best for me to have it replaced.
The kenmore water filter is advertised as a 9915 model. That is essentially a double-edged sword. One of the features of 9915 filters is that they reduce the amount of chlorine in your water. Chlorine is a common byproduct of chlorine-based water treatment that is a known carcinogen. It has a known link with cancer, and if you have a low chlorine level in your water your risk of cancer is increased.
A chlorine disinfectant is a liquid, which means that after a certain amount of use, it loses its disinfectant abilities. However, a 9915 water filter is a double-edged sword because you can still use it, just not as often. This filter comes with a water-proof plastic capsule that you have to unscrew to drain it, which is a hassle.
The only complaint I had with this particular water filter is that it comes with a glass bottle that you have to unscrew to unscrew it. Which doesn’t really make it any better.
It’s a good thing you can take it out and throw it away, right? Well, I guess that makes it a little more convenient, but still not exactly user-friendly.
