I was at the dryer with a customer the other day and he asked me to explain how I run my dryer. In my own words, “I run it by an electric heater.” He asked me why I had a power cord hanging out the top and I said I had just done laundry. I explained that the dryer has a dryer lint filter. He said “Ah, I don’t have a dryer lint filter.
If you have a dryer lint filter, you can remove the lint and not have a problem with it, but it will still be a problem with clean clothes. Most manufacturers recommend that you run your dryer with a small amount of dryer lint filter. It’s generally a good idea too, because it can make the dryer run smoother. I use mine with about 1 to 2 tablespoons of filter, but it doesn’t take much to make the dryer run smoother.
I have no idea why this is a big deal, but dryer lint filter and clothes that are clean with it are important. It’s like the difference between a glass of water and a glass that has the stuff in it. I like some lint in my coffee, but I don’t like to drink it.
Just like most of the other things in the dryer lint filter list, I am sure that this item has its uses. This helps with the dryer’s cleaning process, and it also makes the dryer seem more ‘clean’.
Another reason is that dryers run at lower temperatures. So if you have a dryer that you have been running at a slightly higher temperature, you can use the dryer lint filter by dipping clothes (especially shirts) in the filter and turning them in for a while. This causes the lint to get trapped in the filter, which then helps keep the dryer as clean as possible.
So I was going to describe the main reason as the lint filter, but now that I’ve done it, it’s more lint than any other reason.
But of course lint is nothing to brag about. It’s just part of the fabric of our lives. So we hope that if we use dryer lint filters, we can help keep our dryer as clean as possible.
