The Electrolux Water Filter is a high-tech innovation that has a water filter that filters out 99.9% of the water that comes out of your refrigerator. The refrigerator is then left to sit and do its thing without any water getting into any other parts of the house.
It’s not perfect, but this is a really nice idea. The only downside is that all the water you see coming out of the refrigerator is black, a result of the electrolux water filter’s ceramic material. To see if it actually works, get your fridge dry. I mean, it doesn’t seem like a big deal, but if you’re going to take the extra step of changing the water filter anyway, this would certainly be the better choice.
It does work, but the blackness means that there are some small holes in the filter that leak a bit of water. You can also get a similar effect by turning off your refrigerator, but since you’re not putting the whole fridge back together right now, there’s no guarantee that you’ll have any water coming out of it.
If you’re worried about the water coming out of your fridge, there are other, lower-tech ways to test for leaks. Check to see if the filter is broken, and if not, try to repair it. The water will come out even if you do repair it, but you might be able to clean up the bits that leaked out. Of course, the best way to find out if you’re leaking water is to give your refrigerator a good cleaning and check the filter.
